One of the challenges of providing care as a crisis responder is ensuring the clinicians themselves are taken care of. Compassion fatigue and secondary traumas can lead to a lack of empathy, reduced clinical effectiveness, and ultimately shorten the amount of time a clinician can do this work effectively. This training will teach clinicians how to implement strategies for effective self-care and reducing the negative impact this type of work can have on their overall wellbeing.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
Learn to recognize signs of secondary trauma and burnout in themselves as crisis responders.
Identify strategies for maintaining good clinical boundaries while remaining present and attuned with clients.
Learn to develop self-care plans for dealing with secondary trauma, burnout, and other practices that will allow them to remain effective working as a crisis responder.
