Sometimes eliciting change talk is challenging when a client or patient is focused on not changing. The excuses to not change are called sustain talk. Essentially, the individual may lack problem recognition and engage in sustain talk to avoid talking about change. This webinar will explore how to respond to sustain talk and strategies to develop discrepancy toward problem recognition.

This training series was presented by Dr. Angela Wood, who has trained providers and line staff in motivational interviewing since 2005.
